Abstract: The study tried to analyze the socio-economic determinates of infant and child mortality rate in Humbo district. The study employed logit regression model in both IMR & CMR. The finding point out, working status of mother, level of mother education, access to health facilities, place of household residence, and access to safe water are significantly determining IMR whereas access to safe water, level of father education, household size, working status of mother, occupational status of household heads, marital status of parents, and access to health facilities are determining CMR in the district. Therefore, we concluded that socioeconomic factors are significantly determined the reduction of infant and child mortality rate. Thisimplied that to reduce infant and child mortality rate requires improvement in socio-economic status of the population as well as the basic services in Humbo district.
