Abstract: Plants have been used in traditional medicine, which has developed into an intriguing but mostly untapped route for the introduction of novel medications. Although Gliricidia sepium, also known as Madre de cacao or kawakate, is used to treat coagulation problems in traditional medicine, there is no scientific evidence to support its hemostatic ability as of yet. The hemostatic potential of Gliricidia sepium trunk extract was investigated in this work. Utilizing citrated plasma and conventional techniques, extracts of the Gliricidia sepium trunk were extracted through squeezing and tested for their hemostatic effects using the prothrombin time (PT),

Keywords: Gliricidia sepium, hemostasis, prothrombin time, activated partial thromboplastin time, clotting time.
