Abstract: The study interrogated the effect of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) on corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities of oil firms operating in Niger Delta area of Nigeria against the backdrop of Community-Related Social Responsibility (C-RSR). Data were collected through the administration of questionnaires. Descriptive analysis (Mean) was employed in analyzing the data, while One-Sample TTest and Paired-Samples Test were employed in testing the hypotheses of the study. Results from the test statistics revealed that the provisions of the PIA (2021) exert significant positive effect on both the extent of CSR engagement by oil multi-nationals and the level of involvement of communities in their social responsibility affairs. Result also indicated a negative but insignificant shift from Firms – driven to community-based social responsibility as a result of the passage of the PIA (2021). The study recommended that strict adherence to the Act should be pursued to reap full benefits of the law.
