Abstract: Palawan is an island province in the southwest of the Philippines and considered as a biogeographic extension of Borneo(Esselstyn et al. 2004). The island is known for its high vertebrate endemism (Brown et al. 2007; Dangan-Galon et al. 2015; van Beijnen and Jose 2019) despite of a relative understudied biodiversity due to previous bureaucratic and other hurdles for researchers in the province. Biodiversity monitoring is important as it gives us updates and trends on the status of target species that serves as basis of management options and conservation measures. Part of the Talakaigan watershed in Barangay Cabigaan, Aborlan, Palawan, were monitored for herpetofauna with the purpose of documenting species in the locally managed ancestral lands of the Tagbanua indigenous people. Assessment results revealed the area holds several endemic and threatened species, thereby substantiating its importance for biodiversity research and monitoring in this area.
